According to him, these allegations of corruption and abuse of office could negatively affect the integrity of the commission and its purpose in the country.

He said the EC’s troubles are ‘painful and scandalous’ to the nation, hence it would be unfortunate if these allegations were proved to be true.

He stressed the need for a transparent electoral body, as the Akufo-Addo administration strives to push forward the development agenda for the country.

In a report by AdomOnline, the NPP secretary stated: “With the electronic transmission of results, it was implemented a few months to the 2016 polls and we were not aware…

We knew there were major challenges involved. A lot of people must be trained. Do you think I am a ‘fool’ to support something like this, something with the potential to destroy the whole country…?

Mr. Boadu’s comments follow the ongoing tension at the EC, between the chairwoman Charlotte Osei and some staff of the commission.

The EC chair was accused of causing damage to the institution’s reputation, by misappropriating the staff endowment fund, among other things, with the concerned staff demanding that she be impeached.
