- Former president Mahama has sympathized with victims of the Tamale floods
- Government says its sending a delegation to the affected areas
Former president of the republic, John Dramani Mahama has expressed his sympathy for all those who have been affected by the torrential rains at Tamale in the Northern Region.
The floods at Tamale, which ravaged thousands of households is feared to have killed one person with thousands more displaced, having to sleep under the mercy of the cold weather.
On his Facebook page, the former president assured all victims of his support and prayers in these hard times.
Meanwhile, government, through an official statement has revealed measures to avert any harsh effect of the said disaster.
"The president has constituted a high powered government delegation to visit the affected areas and assess the situation. Government wishes to assure all affected persons of plans to alleviate their suffering," a statement signed by the information minsiter, Mustapha Hamid revealed.
So far, areas worst affected by the floods include Gumani, Vitting village, Vitting estate, Target, Fou, Kukuo, Shilla Yili and other parts of the Tamale metropolis and Sagnarigu district.
