The police have arrested thirteen persons in connection with a series of attacks that have been prevalent in the Volta regional town of Aflao.
The suspects had been reportedly harassing people who use the Aflao border. There are thirteen of them; eleven males and two females.
According to police officials hey were picked up, following information received from informants.
The statement from the police further revealed that the prime targets are usually merchants from cities such as Kumasi, which were not too close to the border.

The police also discovered that the suspects were in possession of narcotic drugs.
Information available indicates that the criminals impersonate officers from the police, immigration and the national security, and offer to assist the travelers to make use of illegal routes when the border is closed.
They then attack the traders and rob them of their possessions.
The police added that they intend to expand their operations to the other regions, so that more criminals would be rounded up.
