- Charles Mugonero was born normal
- However, he developed his physical disability when he began walking
- Despite his disability, he has achieved success as a music teacher
36-year-old Charles Mugonero, who is from Namutumba District in Uganda, was a normal baby at birth.
However, he developed his physical disability just a month after he took his first steps as a child. This, combined with his family's modest means, made his childhood a difficult one.
He dropped out of high school at one point due to lack of fees. Fortunately, he got a bursary and managed to proceed to a teachers training college.
All the while, his disability did not faze him. He developed an interest in music from a young age and decided to focus on teaching music and mathematics.
He now teaches the two subjects at the Parental Care Boarding Nursery and Primary School in Bushenyi Town. He has also taken several schools to the national level in music competitions.
In an interview with Daily Monitor, Mugonero said his reputation has grown and he receives invitations from several schools, earning him additional income.

He added that his disability isn't a problem for him. He said: “I am not bothered by the disability because I can do what other people can. Music goes with rhythm and I enjoy it whenever I am training and although I cannot dance, I shake and feel how good it is.”
