Few months after the gruesome killing of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, his personal cellphone has been retrieved by officials of the Ghana Police Service.
According to reports the police retrieved the mobile phone from the room of a local driver Kwodjo Fordjour, in Denkyira-Obuasi after he was arrested.
The 30-year-old driver, has been remanded into police custody in Accra, pending further investigations.
According to Detective Inspector Simon Appiosornu, the police found the cellphone from Fordjour, after they picked up some intelligence he has resurfaced in the town after he went on a hideout with the phone.
The police detective told an Accra court today that, his men arrested the suspect in his room and found the phone on him, upon thorough search of his room.
Detective Appiosornu in his briefing, appealed to the court to give the police more time to investigate the suspect in his alleged involvement, in the killing of the late Army Commander.
The court presided over by Worlanyo kotoku, granted the appeal and has since adjourned the case to August 3, 2017.
The late Major Mahama was killed on official duty, after some angry youth in Denkyira-Obuasi charged on him, accusing him of being an armed robber.
Major Mahama who left behind a wife, Barbara and two other kids has been laid to rest at the Osu Military Cemetery in Accra.
Meanwhile over 20 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder for further investigations.
