The tragedy of the flooding at Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana seems to have struck a personal note with the vice president of the country, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
It was revealed a lady, one of the two victims who lost their lives, was a classmate of the Dr. Bawumia.
The lady, who has been identified as Hajia Fati Bapuni Amams was, according to reports, was a teacher at a Tumu school in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region.
Hajia Fati was reportedly rushing to pick her ward from school in the wake of the storm when the unfortunate event happened.
Her Toyota RAV 4 got caught in the strong running water that had flooded the area and carried the car off with her still in it.
According to MyNewsGH.com, a combined team effort from security agencies in the area proved futile as they could not recover her car in time.
Bawumia, while visiting the area on Wednesday July 26, 2017, revealed that Hajia Fati Bapuni Amams was was his classmate at Sakasaka Primary School.
He commiserated with the family and pledged his support to help pick up their lives after the disastrous incident.
