- Samira Bawumia has proffered the best way to tackle cases of human trafficking in Ghana and worldwide
- The second lady says arresting the menace should be through the uprooting of its causes
Second lady, Samira Bawumia, has called on world leaders and all anti-human trafficking activists to ensure that the root cause of the menace is tackled once and for all.
Speaking at the International Women Trafficking Conference in India, the second lady bemoaned reports of how Ghana continues to be a hub for various human trafficking rings across the world - a development she suggests can best be tackled through the implementation of very practicable steps.
“The river of human trafficking is extremely vast and flows from a gushing spring of unending water. We cannot empty it by fetching the water with buckets and pouring it elsewhere,” she posited.
The statement by Samira Bawumia follows the rescue of close to 150 women and girls by the Ghana immigration service who were being trafficked to the Gulf states.
