Award winning celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah, has suggested in a post that some prominent Ghanaian celebrities have gone out of their way to buy social media followers to boost their social media presence.
The advent of social media has gone a long way towards changing how people communicate with each other. Some people, or celebrities via social media reactions (likes, shares, followers) have used social media to boosttheir popularity status...the more social media reactions, the more popular you are.
Enter the act of buying likes. This is people pay shady individuals to be provided with a specific amount of social likes, or friends/followers/connections.

In a post on his Instagram profile, award wining celebrity blogger Ameyaw Debrah points out how ninety percent of some Ghanaian artist's social media following are "Turkish or Azerbaijani", none of which speak English as a first language.
According to eonlineghana.com, well known Ghanaian songstress Becca, and Kumi Guitar seem to have similar traits as described by Ameyaw Debrah.
Eonlineghan.com's article goes on to say that posts by the two Ghanaian celebrities don't receive too many likes, or comments as they would had their followers been "real".
