- Government is calling for calm over warnings of a terror attack
- The ministry of interior claims the country is currently safe
Government through the ministry of interior has debunked claims of a possible terror attack in Ghana.
Several countries like Canada, UK and the US have issued terrorism alerts on their various travel websites to citizens wishing to visit Ghana as they claim the possibility of an attack in Ghana is high but the ministry claims these warnings do not apply to Ghana.
In a crucial press release, the ministry assures that the public will be notified in advance if indeed there is a possible threat of terrorism.
"The public is hereby assured that the Nation faces no known terror threats at the moment and remains safe," excerpts of the presser assured..
This very statement by government somewhat contradicts earlier statements by the defense minister, Dominic Nitiwul who earlier stated the country’s terror alert has been raised over the past months following threats of terrorism across the world.
The defense minister minced no words in Parliament when he confessed that, “Ghana is not as safe as we think”.
The defense minister thus revealed that government will deploy the anti-terrorist task-force at vantage places to forestall any possible attack.
