An old-timer DJ and musician now Reverend Minister, Kpakpo Addo better known as Azigiza Jnr, has called on Ghanaians to offer prayers for a renowned musician, Ofori Amponsah.
According to him, it is not an easy task to be in the ministry of God, therefore people must offer him a helping hand instead of lashing out at him.
Speaking in a media interview today, Pastor Azigiza revealed that, he could not tell exactly what caused the once legendary highlife musician, to make U-turn from God’s calling. However he suspects that, poverty could be the reason for his return to the secular music.
The one time Ghanain highlife giant, in 2012 crossed carpet from secular music to preaching the word of God, which generated huge public uproar.
But few years later, Pastor Ofori Amponsah again announced his come back into secular music with some hit tracks, a move which received incessant public backlash and outright condemnation.
However, Pastor Azigiza who made similar attempt into God’s Ministry in 1998 but never looked back insisted that, society should not be quick to judge Ofori Amponsah.
"If you are not careful, poverty will make you go back because on the secular side somebody will call you to come for shows and give you money. The best Ghanaians can do for Ofori Amponsah is to pray for him,” he said.
Pastor Azigiza disclosed that, he did not find things easy when he made similar move years back.
Azigiza finally advise entertainment personalities who turn to do God’s work not to rush to the pulpit.
