They would complement the efforts of the police – NPP Chairman says of the new vigilante group

A new vigilante group has been formed by the Eastern regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Named “Eagle Forces”, the first vice regional chairman, Alhaji Umar Bodinga explained that the idea is for the group to provide internal security for the party, despite the calls for the disbandment of such groups.

He added that the activities of group would complement the efforts of the police, especially during functions organized by the party.

He is of the opinion that members of the group are vigilant and committed people who would do their best in the interest of the party.

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), has in recent times called for the breakup of such groups, as their activities comprise the security of the state.

Groups similar to this one, such as the Invisible Forces and Delta Force, have been in the news for the wrong reasons, with stories of havoc they have wreaked on people and property.
