Following her brilliant performance at the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz, Miss Zuweira Baba Mohammed from Tamale Senior High school was recently a recipient of a fund for students from three Northern regions, YEN.com.gh has gathered.
Zuweira's exceptional showing at the quiz earned her the first ‘Prof. Ewurama Addy’ award for being the best female participant in this year’s competition.
The fund, named the ‘Token Fund Initiative for Excellence’ was started by a section of Ghanaians from the Northern part of Ghana who are living in the country and abroad.
In a report by Citi FM, The fund was started by Kamal Mustapha who lives in Atlanta in the United States, along with some colleagues and with the approval of some elders from the Northern part of Ghana.
Zuweira being the first recipient of the fund was awarded GHC 2000, and will also receive a laptop to help her in her studies.
The fund according to its creators, is meant to support students that are exceptional in school in the North, but do not have the adequate resources.
