- Former chairman of the NDC has shed more light on the rift between Rawlings and the party saying it all begun when Atta Mills was "imposed" on them
- Jerry Rawlings has been condemned by the former deputy chief of staff who claims he was the cause of the party's defeat in 2016
Developments relating to the entire political tenure of the late president Mills are beginning to unfold with the latest being a wild claim by the former chairman of the NDC, Obed Asamoah, who reveals that Jerry Rawlings wanted to control Mills.
In an extensive interview with Joy FM, the former Chairman of the party revealed that the ongoing differences in the party all started when Jerry Rawlings "imposed Atta Mills on party members" ahead of the elections in the year 2000.
"That is when I felt that other people were also entitled to be considered. That is when we had our clashes and differences,” he opened up in an interview with Joy News' Emefa.
But all did not go well for Atta Mills just when he decided to take his own decision not to be told what to do by Jerry Rawlings.
YEN.com.gh gathers that the growing tensions against the former president could not only deepen the Rawlings-Mahama faction in the NDC but also cause a huge political blow to the party ahead of the 2020 elections.
With this revelation made by Obed Asamoah, it can be reasoned that the entire presidency of the late Atta Mills was fraught with tensions and in-house fights with the former president Jerry Rawlings.
Meanwhile, Jerry Rawlings is yet to make an official comment over these wild revelations made against him the party.
