- More troubles arise in the National Democratic Congress after the position of Jerry John Rawlings as the founder of the party gets questioned by some top officials and stalwarts
- One of such doubters is Dr. Obed Asamoah, a former chairman of the party who has revealed that there was no way John Rawlings could have been the founder of the NDC
The internal struggles of the National Democratic Congress, the largest opposition party in Ghana, seem to only be deepening as top members and officials make explosive comments against each other.
In line with comments made by former Deputy Chief of Staff Dr Valerie Sawyerr, another top NDC member has come out to speak against party founder, Jerry John Rawlings.
Dr. Obed Asamoah, a former National Chairman of the NDC has revealed that indeed, John Rawlings is not the founder of the political party.
MyNewsGH.com reports that, Dr. Asamoahg stated that there was no way Rawlings could have been a member of the founders of the NDC as a code of conduct in Ghana's army would have prevented that.
He revealed that Rawlings was an active member of the military in 1192 when he [Asamoah] took steps to register the NDC at the Electoral Commission office.
According to Dr. Asamoah, former president John Jerry Rawlings was only accepted into the NDC after resigning from the military.
This comment by the NDC stalwart fall in line with earlier expositions by Alhaji Mohammed Sani.
Alhaji Sani came under vicious backlash on social media when he suggest that Rawlings, who has for long been touted as the founder of the NDC, was not the person behind the party's formation.
Sani Mohammed had then stated that Rawlings could have only been a member of the founding fathers of the NDC and not a sole founder of the party.
