Encouraging! Black empowerment group gives students returning to school a warm welcome

- 100 Black Men of Atlanta is an organization dedicated to Black empowerment

- Its members warmly welcomed students returning from their holidays

- The gesture was meant to encourage the students

Sometimes, returning to school after the holidays can be a bit of a drag.

Fortunately for students at the Business, Engineering, Science, and Technology Academy of Atlanta, Georgia, a group of Black professionals was on hand to give them a warm welcome.

The professionals belong to the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, an organization dedicated to empowerment of the Black community in Atlanta, especially in education.

They gave the returning students high gives, hugs and words of support as a way of encouraging them to stay in school.

Curley Dossman, the chairman of the organization, said their gesture is part of their year-long mentorship program targeting young Black students.

He said: "We want to make sure that these young men find the encouragement to really move their path forward and their careers forward."
