Operation Vanguard, the joint task force deployed to clamp down on illegal mining across the country has fiercely denied killing 4 illegal miners at Kwabeng.
YEN.com.gh is learning that the defense minister will be meeting with the task force today on this issue which is said to have reduced their morale to protect the environment.
There was unease and high tensions at Kwabeng near Anyinam in the Eastern Region after four lifeless bodies were found near a mining pit filled with mud water .
Residents of the area have alleged that the anti-galamsey task force is to blame for the deaths of these men but the task force denies any such thing.
Speaking to a section of the media over the issue, deputy team leader of the task force, DSP Bismarck Achab argued that all accusations against them are untrue and that the security forces had not even visited the said mining site as yet.
Meanwhile, assembly man for Kyebi Ahenbronmu in the Eastern region, Kwame Asiedu Bekoe is making the case the police to mount an intense investigation to unravel the cause of death of these miners as further checks by the police show there were no bullet wounds on all four of the deceased men.
