Ghanaians woke up today, August 14 to learn that two top banks have had their licenses revoked by the central bank. The banks in question are UT Bank and Capital bank.
Their takeover came as a shock to many Ghanaians as some were of the view that it was just a prank owing to the financial prowess and mileage that UT bank had garnered over the years.
The news first broke on social media platforms and many Ghanaians got wind of it on the news. It was only after pictures started circulating of billboards and signage owned by the bank being taken down before a section of the general public started treating the matter seriously.
Ghanaians generally have a way of looking at situations on the lighter and in the takeover case, they exhibited the same reaction.
