- The NDC founder seems to have ignored the party's general secretary
- The NDC's founder, Jerry Rawlings is not on good terms with the party's national executives
- The NDC lost the 2016 elections in to the governing NPP
General secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia endured an embarrassing moment after appearing to have been snubbed by founder of the party, Ft Lt Jerry John Rawlings.
On Tuesday, a meeting was held at the NDC headquarters in Adabraka, with key members of the party in attendance, including the Functional Executive Council and the Council of Elders of the party.
The crucial meeting, which was held in camera, was with the purpose of discussing the report presented by the Kwesi Botchway committee on the possible reasons behind the party's loss in the 2016 elections.
However, the entire event became speculative after former president and founder of the NDC, Ft Lt Jerry John Rawlings clearly snubbed the party's general secretary Asiedu Nketia during a handshake.
Mr. Nketia was all smiles as he attempted to shake Rawlings' hand, but former president frowned, with his demeanor suggesting he did not have time for the party general secretary.
The unfortunate turn of events has increased speculation that the NDC founder is not on good terms with some ranking members of the party, after tending to criticize them in recent times.
It would be remembered that in January, Rawlings openly snubbed former Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpije at a meeting in Parliament, before late patching up with him at a different event.
It remains to the seen, though, what the true relationship between Rawlings and Asiedu Nketia actually is after this public snub.
