The Member of Parliament(MP), for Sekyere Afraim Plains in the Ashante Region, Hon. Alex Adomako-Mensah has been robbed by armed robbers.
The MP who was traveling from Kumasi to Kumawu was attacked by three men wielding guns and knives on Monday around 6: 40pm.
The suspected robbers forcibly made away with some valuables of the MP, including GH¢5,000, Ipad and his iPhone.
Hon. Adomako-Mensah who narrated his ordeal to Daily Guide in Accra said, he was with his driver in a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicle, when the gunmen attacked them in the middle of their journey.
According to him, the armed robbers who were also driving in a salon car with foreign registration number accosted his car in a menacing fashion, forcing his driver to pull breaks near a small village called Akotosu on the main Kumasi-Kumawu road.
The MP said, two of the robbers, quickly pointed guns at them and ordered him and his driver to
steep down their vehicle. The robbers instructed them to surrender all their belongings or risk losing their lives.
The legislator who was griped with fear did not utter a word but gave out all his bag, which contained GH¢5,000, iPad, iPhone, parliamentary ID card, cheque books, parliamentary stamps and other valuables.
The MP said though the robbers did not assault him physically, the incidents lasted for few minutes, and the three men rushed into their salon car towards Effiduase direction at top speed.
The Sekyere Afraim Plains lawmaker said, he and his driver drove to a police barrier ahead to report the case after the robbers had left the scene. He added that no arrests have been made by the police.
