- Dr Sawyerr in a controversial article criticised the NDC’s founder
- But Mr Rawlings is a response said Valerie Sawyerr is without integrity and who should be ignored
The Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are reportedly unhappy with vilifying comments made by Dr. Valeri Sawyerr on founder of the party, Ft Lt Jerry John Rawlings.
Rawlings has been a strong critic of the NDC in recent times, and believes the party is not being ran properly by the people currently at the helm of affairs.
However, in a sharp riposte, former deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Valeri Sawyerr lambasted the ex-president for his utterances towards the party.
In a strongly-worded article, Dr. Sawyerr said Rawlings is just "an agitated mosquito looking for his next victim", while also suggesting that the former Ghana president has no right to criticise anybody because his own government was "sullied".
But it has now emerged that members of the Council of Elders of the party are unhappy with her attacks on the party founder.
This was made known, as per a source who was present at Monday's meeting of party executives to discuss the content of the Prof Kwesi Botchway report on the possible causes of the NDC's loss in the 2016 elections.
According to the unnamed NDC executive - as quoted by PrimenewsGhana.com - Dr. Sawyerr should have spoken to Rawlings in a more "respectful manner", adding that any grievances by the former deputy Chief of Staff should have been brought before the party's Council of Elders, rather than taking it public.
Rawlings has however, responded to Dr Sawyerr, saying she should be ignored.
