Respected Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel is calling for new measures for Ghana’s marriage registration system.
According to the actor, the Registrar General’s Department must devise modern approach to protect the institution of marriage.
To him, the only way the state can help marriage couples is to take them through a rigorous test before allowing them sign their marriage certificates.
Speaking to the media recently, the actor expressed worry over the ‘botched’ way at which the department is handling affairs.
The ‘born again’ actor, recommended that the institution must challenge young couples to attitude test and even better educate them on marriage before awarding them with certificates.
“But if I walk to Registrar General’s Department right now with a woman, they will ask me if I am sure we are not related? Then I say yes. They would then say, sit down and sign here,” he disclosed.
With this approach, Majid says is the shambolic way of handling a serious institution like marriage.
He added that, the Registrar General’s Department ought to properly prepare and educate young couples adequately instated of asking them petty questions.
The actor also maintained that, marriage vows are supposed to be taken seriously since it binds both pertness till death.
“Couples must go through a series of training to acquire knowledge about marriage before they are allowed to sign up for it,” he advised.
