A massive explosion at the Tema Industrial Area has left one person dead with two others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The explosion occurred this morning in a facility of Delta Agro Limited, a soap manufacturing company at the industrial city.
According to reports, the incidents occurred when three workers of the company attempted to clean a tank containing dirty oil.
An Administrative Manager of the Company, who spoke to Citi FM in Accra explained that, the three workers in their attempt to desilt the dirty oil tank resorted to cutting an area but the tank got exploded in the process.
“When we got to the scene, the tank that stored the dirty oil had exploded, according to the workers, because it was empty, they were trying to de-sludge it because it had sludge. So in the course of trying to de-sludge it, they had to cut an area to enable the de-sludging and all of a sudden it exploded”, the manager said.
Reports say, the deceased worker died on a way to the hospital, whiles the two others are receiving treatment at the Legon Hospital.
An eyewitness who spoke to the media disclosed that, the impact of the explosion was massive that, it got all his office louvres near the factory shattered.
Authorities say, a combined team of Ghana Police Service, Fire Service and the Environmental Protection Agency have since visited the factory to access the situation.
