Strictly Come Dancing contestant Reverend Richard Coles has spoke up on his past drug addiction and conceded he lied about having HIV.

The church minister asserted that he was HIV positive amid a row with his bandmate Jimmy Somerville, following a gig in Switzerland.

At the time, he was taken ill with the shingles, and, despite the fact that he tested negative, he insisted he was HIV positive since he needed his companion to "ease up."

The 55-year old acknowledged that there was a dim excitement about the disease which he preferred - and he kept up the lie for a stunning five years.

Regardless of keeping up the lie for a long time, the cleric said he was excessively embarrassed and felt like a blockhead.
