The 7th annual Chalewote Festival took place last week, and this year, it drew an even larger crowd to the main street exhibition in Jamestown.
The festival which is organized by ACCRA [DOT] ALT, in collaboration with REDD KAT Pictures and other cultural bodies, brings together different art forms (music, dance and performance art) from various Ghanaian and international alternative artists.
The festival’s main attractions are the amazing street art exhibitions that decorate the streets of Jamestown right up to the main point of the event, Mantse Agbonaa opposite the Jamestown LightHouse.
This year, new and old exhibitionists trooped to one of Ghana’s most historic communities to showcase their talent and passion for art.
The festival also featured new food startups to feed the large hungry mass of attendees.
This year’s theme is ‘WATA MATA’ which is the end of a trilogy that began with the festival theme of African Electronics in 2015.
There were amazing processions throughout the duration of the event, especially the Mami Wata procession in celebration of the festival's theme.
