- The angry youth have warned their chief to abdicate his throne and leave the town
- Thy are accusing him of taking monies from the mining firm
Some aggrieved youth of Nyinahini community in the Ashante Region, have vowed to chase out the chief of the area, Nana Amanpene II for supporting the exploration of bauxite concession in their forest.
According to the youth group, the chief is doing the bidding of the mining firm because, he has been offered some huge sums of money.
They have also warned the chief to abdicate his throne and vacate the town or face their anger.
There has been serious tension between the angry youth and officials of Exton Cubic Limited over a bauxite concession granted to the company at the Tano-Offin Forest Reserve.
The youth, had earlier seized some heavy duty trucks belonging to Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of former President Mahama, suspecting some fraudulent deal in granting him the bauxite concession.
Nana Amanpene II has accused the District Chief Executive of the area, Williams Darko for inciting the youth against the activities of the mining firm, creating unnecessary tension.
The chief argues that the three main traditional rulers whose jurisdiction the bauxite concession is situated, are fully aware of all legal processes the company had gone through four years ago.
But the angry youth say the Chief must stay away from affairs of the community henceforth.
“We won’t agree, he must leave the town. If he dare comes out, he will meet us on the street. We know he has taken money from the company to sell out our resources,” the youth group told Starr FM in an interview.
