World Cup 2018: Kwesi Appiah names squad for Congo qualifier

- Coach Appiah’s 24-man list includes debutants Edwin Gyasi of Norwegian side Aalesund and Gideon Waja of WAFA

- The players are expected to start arriving in Accra from Monday August 28

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has released a list of 24 players that will make the squad for Ghana's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Congo.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face the Red Devils in a crucial double-header in September, with a clash at the Baba Yara stadium to come first.

The current squad has a number of debutants present, including WAFA's Gideon Waja, France-based Lawrence Ati Zigi and Aalesund's Edwin Gyasi.

Christian Atsu also returns to the squad, having missed Ghana's last AFCON qualifier, with notable names like Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew all included.

The Black Stars currently sit in third position behind Egypt and Uganda in the World Cup qualifying group after two winless outings.

The 24-man squad named by coach Kwesi Appiah will immediately get to preparations on Monday, as Ghana bids to make to a fourth successive World Cup in Russia.
