- A UK mother has sought advice on a dilemma she faces
- Her fiancé wants her to give up her son for them to get married
- She is actually considering it
A mother in the UK has sought relationship advice on the popular website DearWendy.com on what she says is a big dilemma for her.
Her fiancé has asked her to give up seeing her son in order for them to get married.
To the astonishment of Dr Wendy and readers of her website, the 30-year-old woman, who is a divorcee, is actually considering what would appear a selfish request.
She has joint custody with her ex-husband and therefore sees her son only twice a month. Her fiancé also has a son with his ex-wife, who has sole custody. He therefore never sees him.
The woman says the man has given her an ultimatum to either choose him of her son and has to make a decision before he returns from a business trip.
She says her only stumbling block is her parents, her son’s grandparents, who suffer from depression and heart problems.
Dr Wendy did not mince her words in telling off the woman.
She said: "You're willing to give up the little bit of time you have with your son, which is already a depressingly small amount, for a monster of a man who doesn't see his own child and doesn't think you should see yours?
"Shame on you. Are you so lonely and so desperate for a husband that you would cast away your own child? Apparently so."
What would you advise her to do?
