Reggae artiste, Root Eye, slams dancehall artistes in the country; calls them fake

A Ghanaian reggae artiste, Kwasi Nyarko-Ofei, better known as Root Eye, has claimed that Ghana has no dancehall artistes.

He added that most of people portraying themselves as dancehall artistes are rather performing as Afro-dancehall artistes. He went on to say that the majority of such artistes speak fake patois.

He stated that singing fake patois in a song does not in any way make it dancehall music.

Root Eye also stated that sonsg have unique elements that must be present; these elements, he said, have effects on the human mind.

To him, the sound and the tone of a song are its two most important qualities. Sadly, he went on, Ghanaians tend to ignore these things.

He mentioned that aside “People Dey”, by Stonwbwoy, all the other songs are simply Afro-dancehall.

He however complimented Shatta Wale for his music style. He was quick to chip in that the artiste needs to work on the sound of his music, if he wishes to reach the top.
