The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will take a major step towards the accomplishment of one his main campaign promises today, 25th August 2017.
Nana Addo will cut sod for commencement construction works on the first factory under the one-district-one-factory programme.
The factory, which will be located at Ekumfi in the Central Region of Ghana, is called the Ekumfi Fruit and Juices Limited.
It will provide a means for citrus farmers in Ekumfi and environs to get their produce processed and ready for market.
Reports suggest that upon completion, the factory will provide 5,000 new direct jobs to the inhabitants in the area.
Despite the advanced preparations towards the sod-cutting ceremony, the largest opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress has called out President Nana Addo and the New Patriotic Party for "claiming credit" for a John Mahama-led project.
This has, however, not deterred Nana Addo and the NPP from moving forward with their plans according to one Kingsley Kofi Karikari, a member of the planning committee for the project
