- Former Board Chairman, Kwame Peprah claims that his board never authorized payment for the software
- He however concedes that discussions were advanced during the time
- Immediate past Board Chairman, Prof. Alabi recently stated that the Peprah-led board concluded the transaction
A former Board Chairman of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kwame Peprah has claimed that the immediate past Board Chairman, Prof. Joshua Alabi is a liar.
According to Peprah, his term of office came to an end in 2012, so there is no way he could have either approved the deal or authorized payment.
Prof. Alabi recently claimed that the transaction took place before he assumed office, effectively placing it during Peprah’s time as chairman.
He went ahead to say that his board decided to approve the transaction because there was value for money; besides there was no reason to cancel it.
Peprah, vehemently denying this, claims that no payment was effected as at the time he chaired the board.
He added that discussions were however advanced as at the time he was exiting as chairman.
He went on to wonder why the Prof. Alabi – led board failed to further enquire into the matter, and consequently launch investigations, if they realized a form of impropriety in the deal.
Turning his attention to the then Chief Executive Officer, Ernest Thompson, Peprah questioned the rationale behind his defence of a transaction that the then Board Chairman now claims was fraught with irregularities.
He concluded by declaring his readiness to make available all documents relating to the transaction, during his time as chairman, available to all who may be interested.
