STC to recruit and train 100 ladies as cabin crew

The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation, Nana Akomea has announced the recruitment of about 100 women to serve as cabin crew. brings you the latest news in Ghana

The announcement follows the implementation of plans by the new management of the STC to revamp the transport service.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Nana Akomea stated the recruitment of the cabin crew ladies were concluded last week and they were currently undergoing training.

He said they’ll begin trials in the next couple of days and the service will be launched in the first week of September.

Nana Akomea outlined several other new plans, such the rebranding and retraining of the bus drivers, and the revamping of the inconsistent WiFi in the buses.

According to him, the management is keen to prioritize the welfare of the STC staff, therefore, starting in September, there will be consistent payments of the workers’ SSNIT contributions as well payments for their Provident Fund.

He noted that there are still some challenges facing the service but plans are underway and funds have been set aside to tackle them.

Problems remain. Our terminals are in deplorable states. Funds have been set aside to restore basic decency and comfort for passengers in our terminals. Long term, we are engaged in negotiations with private investors for complete Revamping of our terminal into modern edifices,” he added.

He assured customers that with ‘honest and prudent’ management, passenger care would be enhanced and the state company will become profitable and preferred for transport needs once more.
