- Kwesi Pratt says NPP must stop the attacks on Ibrahim Mahama's businesses
- He says Akufo-Addo's relatives are also conducting businesses in Ghana
A renowned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to be careful with the inhumane treatment being meted out to the brother of former President Mahama and Chief Executive of Engineers and Planners.
According to Kwesi Pratt, vicious attacks and victimization being targeted at Ibrahim Mahama and his businesses by some top NPP members are unnecessary.
Speaking on Radio Gold in Accra, the Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper condemned the NPP over seizure of some mining equipment belonging to Ibrahim Mahama.
Kwesi Pratt added that all attempts calculated by the Akufo-Addo administration to bring down businesses of the brother of former President will be flawed.
He insisted that former President Mahama is not the only person having his relatives conducting legitimate businesses in Ghana.
Kwesi Pratt could not fathom why the NPP administration has started frustrating businesses of Ibrahim Mahama when President Akufo-Addo’s relatives are also conducting legitimate businesses in Ghana.
“What is happening to Exton Cubic and Engineers and Planners demonstrate a certain lack of commitment to the private sector. Ibrahim Mahama has been doing business for so many years before his brother came to power so does Bomti. All my life I have not heard anybody make any allegation against Bomti and his business practices; never. I have not heard anything. Bomti has been doing his business quietly. Nobody has raised a finger against Bomti. Today President Akufo Addo is the president of Ghana. Are we saying his brother’s business must collapse?” he questioned.
“So today if Bomti does any legitimate business with the Akufo-Addo government, is this how he will be treated when Akufo-Addo leaves office?, Kwesi Pratt queried.
It could be recalled that the Ashante Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and the District Chief Executive of Atwima Mponua ordered seizure of some heavy-duty mining equipment including trucks belonging to Engineers and Planners over a bauxite concession, claiming some illegality.
Engineers and Planners, a company belonging to Ibrahim Mahama was engaged by a mining company Exton Cubic Group Limited over the Nyinahini Bauxite concession, suspects some political underpinning by the NPP administration.
