Popular Highlife musician Jewel Ackah has stated categorically that ex-president John Mahama was very detrimental to his continued survival after retiring from active music.
According to enquiries made by Daily Post Newspaper, it was ascertained that Jewel Ackah was on John Mahama’s personal payroll. The enquiry also revealed that the former president till date has been footing the hospital bills of the experienced singer. John Mahama also visited the musician at home and sent him monthly cash for upkeep according to the report.
The “Araba” singer also indicated that the former first couple frequently visited him in his house to check up on him.
Revealing the facts to journalists, the singer indicated that if it had not been for the support coming from the former president, he would have been dead.
Jewel Ackah was in the news recently when news about his ill-health went viral. He was also reported to have indicated that the NDC had neglected him after he had sacrificed to support the party; a claim some staunch NDC members have vehemently rubbished.
Not long after his plight was made public knowledge, the musician received a whopping $10,000 dollar donation from the CEO of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah.
After the dollar donation, other benevolent NDC groups visited the ailing musician and supported him in the little way they could including a GHc 2,000 he received a few days ago.
With all these donation and concern going the way of the ace musician, it appears he still needs some more assistance to help him pull through his current fragile condition.
