Two controversial member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, musician A Plus and legislator, Kennedy Agyapong will be made to answer question by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
The two, who have leveled accusations of corruption against some government officials have been invited by the CID to show evidence to back their allegations.
Earlier, the acerbic musician, A Plus had stated that two of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's Deputy Chief of Staff were involved in corrupt acts.
He mentioned that Francis Asenso-Boakye and Abu Jinapor were grossly corrupt and were bringing shame to the NPP government.
In a post on social media network, Facebook, which has since been deleted, A Plus refered to the two officials "stupid".
So far so good except appointing some very corrupt official including the two very stupid deputy chief of staff. It’s amazing how Nana was able to appoint two thieves whose level of stupidity is the same. Arrogant and corrupt fools. You think you’ll be in power forever,” A-Plus' post read.
In the same light, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central backed A Plus' claims, saying he [Kennedy Agyapong] also had reasons to believe that the two accused deputies were grossly corrupt.
“Abu Jinapor and Asenso-Boakye are not the only two alleged to be involved in corrupt activities at the presidency, there are many others as well. When I started complaining about the President being surrounded by sycophants and corrupt people, I had people calling me to stop making those allegations,” the MP reportedly said.
Nana Addo had earlier assured Ghanaians that the NPP government would efficiently investigate any claim of corruption leveled against party and state officials and it seems this promise is being manifested in the CID's actions.
