- Salaries of public sector workers who failed to migrate onto the electronic payment has been suspended
- All heads of departments are being entreated to ensure that the mistakes are tackled
The controller and accountant general's department has suspended the August salaries of 7,000 civil servants following the inability of the various heads of departments at the ministries to validate their salaries at the finance ministry.
According to the auditor general, these heads also failed to abide by the 48 hour timeline to update all salaries into the Electronic Salary Payment Voucher (ESPV).
“We served notice on the new directives in February 2017. We have communicated with unions, chief directors, heads of departments and human resource departments of the various MDAs on the need for regular updates but not all complied, thereby causing the non-payment of salaries of the 7,000 government workers,” Mrs Osei explained.
