- Williams Dapaatem has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing police uniform to extort money from innocent people
- Police investigations later revealed that Dapatem stole the uniform from a police officer at the Tesano Police Barracks
A 42-year-old man is currently in the grips of the Police after allegedly stealing a police uniform which he used for his own operations.
The suspect, identified as one Williams Dapaatem, was arrested by the Accra Police Command after being spotted in a police uniform extorting money from some traders, despite the fact that he was not a policeman.
The Daily Guide reports that the suspect allegedly stole the said uniform from a policeman situated at the Tesano Police Station when it was washed and hung on a drying line.
According to the Deputy Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Kwabena Danso, Dapaatem used to the uniform to extort money from some traders and hawkers at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
His actions, however, became suspicious and he was reported to the police by a trader who had closely observed him.
A team from the Accra Police Command was dispatched to arrest him for questioning, which later turned out that he was a fake officer.
Dapateem is currently in the grips of the Police and will soon be processed before court.
