- Some illegal miners at Kwaminiampa in the Prestea Huni-Valley District of the Western Region have vowed to resist any attempt by anyone to collapse their business
- The agitated galamseyers took to the streets of Kwaminiampa to invoke curse on some opinion leaders
A group of illegal miners in the Western Region have rained curses on government, the media and all persons involved in the fight against their actions.
According to them, the renewed fight against illegal mining (galamsey) has collapsed their works and left them jobless, making life difficult for them.
Earlier in August, the Anti-Galamsey Taskforce, Operation Vanguard team, constituted by government stormed Kwaminiampa in Prestea Huni valley in the Western Region and destroyed the mining equipment of these galamseyers, as well as driving them out of the site.
However, the action by the anti-galamsey task force has not gone down well with the illegal miners in the area who believe their only source of livelihood has now been shut.
Last week they, therefore, gathered at the three main roundabouts in Prestea to pour libation and invoke curses on those who are actively fighting the menace.
According to them "some elders have taken moneies from us and have collapsed our business. Our mining machines worth thousands of cedis have been destroyed."

They added that "any person who came for our money and has seen our business collapsed, he and his wife and children as we pour this libation whenever they pick a vehicle they should be killed in an accident, may that person and all his generation die."
