According to the controversial counselor kum pastor, the replacement of alcohol with honey and water during naming ceremony of babies is breeding ‘stupidity’ among many Ghanaian children.

Speaking to Kofi Adomah Nwanwani on Kofi TV, the counselor insisted that the high level of indiscipline and 'stupidity' erupting from many Ghanaian youth is as a result of honey dipped on their tongues during their naming ceremony.

He said the use of alcohol and water during child naming signifies purity, therefore parents should not adulterate Ghanaian culture by given their babies honey instead of ‘akpeteshie’.

“In the olden days, when a baby is to be named, the index finger is dipped in water and alcohol and placed in the baby’s mouth. Both signify purity. Today, they use honey and water. That is why there is so much stupidity in this country”, he argued.

He added that the use of honey today in naming ceremony distorts understanding and thinking of children between truth and lies.

“Let’s go back to culture and tradition, that every newborn baby will be given ‘akpeteshie’ and water during its naming ceremony. So that children can distinguish between truth and lies. Honey and water do not have same colour. That is why there is so much foolishness in this country”, he added.

The counselor advised that, “If you dip alcohol into a baby’s mouth it enables the baby to know that this is the truth and this is a lie because alcohol is pure and water is pure. So let us stop using the honey and rather use water and alcohol”.
