- There are hints of Asamoah Gyan quitting the Black Stars after 2019
- Asamoah Gyan has been captain of the senior national team who led the stars to 3 World Cups
Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, is expected to say his final goodbyes to the senior national team of the Black Stars anytime soon.
YEN.com.gh is gathering that Baby Jet will also be quitting international football when the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon is over.
Former coach of the Kayserispor frontman, JE Sarpong, has revealed that he had advised him to quit the team following recent pressure being mounted on him.
“I spoke personally to Asamoah Gyan in Kumasi and advised him to quit the national team," Sarpong, Gyan's high school coach. I have asked him to leave this team now. He has everything in football - money, houses, cars and name. Just leave this team now and save yourself. But he told me he wanted to qualify the team to the World Cup but now that appears difficult, he wants to qualify to the 2019 Afcon and then he will quit [after the tournament],” the coach revealed to Ghanasoccernet.
Gyan leaves the Black Stars as the lead scorer with 51 goals after leading the team at three World Cup competitions, but the number is unlikely to increase as the side currently sit third in Group E with two match days to go in Russia 2018 qualifying.
