It as emerged that the main reason for the low patronage of condoms in Ghana is due to the allergy of it by most Ghanaians.
This was revealed by a pharmacist who has revealed that most sexually active persons rather prefer doing it unprotected just so "they enjoy the pleasure of themselves" forgetting the risks involved in such an act.
According to Elizabeth Amoako of Jinlet Pharmacy, many shun the use of condoms because they feel the rubber sheath waters down the feeling of enjoyment of unprotected sex. This desire supersedes the need to protect themselves.
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported of how over 30 million condoms imported into the country are not being patronized.
Meanwhile, the Ghana AIDS commission has revealed that the situation not only increases the rate of unwanted pregnancies but also the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS in the country.
