Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s super striker and captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars on Tuesday night offered to charter a flight for team for their return home from his own pocket.
The Black Stars went to play against Congo’s national team in Brazzaville, scoring 5 goals against their 1 in an away match for the World Cup qualifiers.
At the end the of the match, the Black Stars were left stranded in Congo after an initial agreement for flight arrangements by the Sports Ministry was cancelled at the last minute.
According to a Kessben FM report, Asamoah Gyan, who was unable to play the match due to an injury doled out a whopping $62,000 to cater for the return to Accra for the team.
The team finally arrived in Accra on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, a sports pundit Patrick Osei-Agyemang popularly known as Countryman Songo has demanded that football experts end their over-the-top calculations regarding the Black Stars' qualification into the World Cup.
According to him, the 5-1 win for the Black Stars against Congo on Tuesday, should not raise any hopes of a World Cup appearance, as that win is insignificant.
