- The regional chairman revealed that former president Kufuor's government allowed local businesses to thrive
- The Attorney-General has already been petitioned with regard to the matter
Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the chairman of the Central regional branch of Ghana’s largest opposition party, the Democratic Congress (NDC), has pleaded with president Akufo-Addo to intervene in the case involving the Exton Cubic Group (ECG).
He expressed shock at the decision to cancel the lease awarded to the Group to mine bauxite.
ECG has meanwhile threatened legal action with regard to the matter.
They have already petitioned the Attorney-General with regard to a seizure of their equipment, and a preventive order, restraining them from accessing the site for mining.
