Host of Adom TV’s ‘Fire for Fire’ show Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly referred to as Countryman Songo, has picked Andre Ayew as a better fit for the Black Stars captaincy than Asamoah Gyan.
The Black Stars team is currently being captained by Gyan, with Andre Ayew serving as his deputy.
However, the roles of both players have often divided opinion among the public, with some quarters calling for Ayew to be made the substantive captain, while others prefer Gyan to be maintained.
Giving his take on the subject, Songo picked the West Ham United man as perfectly suited for the captaincy, saying that “will be best for Ghana”.
Speaking on Starr FM’s Star Chat with Bola Ray, the popular sports presenter said: “Asamoah Gyan has done his part. Andrew Ayew, a 26, 27-year-old boy, he should work very hard in his current team West Ham. He should rediscover his form and lead the Black Stars. I think that will be best for Ghana.
"I mean, he’s been there and he knows the ins and outs, what the problems are when it comes to the Black Stars.
“So for now, moving forward, between Asamoah Gyan and Andrew Ayew, …. I’ll say Andre Ayew. This is nothing personal. This is professional.”
Countryman Songo has, in recent times, been a strong critic of the Black Stars captain, with the pair since engaging in numerous war of words.
