- He added that the Congo team opened up their defenses because he was not in action
The captain of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, is convinced his absence from the game against Congo, helped the team win.
He indicated that the Congo team opened up their game, because he was absent. To him, he would have been a threat to them, if he was in action.
By opening up the game, he is certain the Congo team gave the Black Stars the opportunity to score the goals.
The Black Stars humiliated the Congo team by scoring 5 goals and conceding one.
Asamoah Gyan, together with Dede and Andre Ayew missed the match. An earlier encounter between the team resulted in a 1-1 score line.
In reference to that score line, he argued that the Ghanaian team were only able to secure a draw when he (Asamoah Gyan) was substituted.
He further added that prior to the start of the game, the skipper of the Congolese side sough to find out from him (Gyan) if he would be playing in the match.
He stated that the player expressed joy when Gyan informed him that he would not be playing
