Facing condemnation from many Ghanaians for allegedly cheating on her husband, media personality, Afia Schwarzenegger, has sought to portray herself as the victim in a scandal that has held the nation spell-bound.
YEN.com.gh can report that, in her latest response to a viral video taken by her estranged husband, which appeared to show her in bed with another man, Afia used strong language to condemn her critics, who she suggested did not understand what she had been through.
In an Instagram post, Afia, who has put on a brave face in the face of the unending criticism of her conduct, called for domestic violence to be rejected by Ghanaians.
She urged Ghanaians who might fight themselves in her shoes to ignore the opinion of people who may not be aware of the violence they were experiencing in their relationships.
She concluded her remark with the hashtage #Leave2Live.
The comment suggested that she had been a victim of domestic violence at the hand of her husband, Lawrence Abrokwa, and decided to leave him, as a result.
It also suggested that she could have been killed by Abrokwa if she had not taken the decision to leave.
More importantly, the remark fit a narrative she has tried to paint to the effect that she was separated from her husband and so was within her right to sleep with another man.
If it is Afia's claim that she was abused, YEN.com.gh can assert that it is readily contradicted by a series of glowing tributes she paid her husband on social media during the course of their marriage.
As recently as August, she claimed on Instagram that her husband was so angelic and God-sent that he had made her the envy of her friends.
If the self-proclaimed comedienne, was indeed a victim of domestic violence, then it is not clear why she portrayed her husband as an angel on social media.
For his part, Abrokwah has strenuously denied that he and Afia were separated.
He has claimed that, following a disagreement between them, he went to visit his mother only to pick up information that his wife was sleeping with a man in the house.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has weighed in on the raging topic, urging people to be careful how they mock Afia.
