- Neymar was also on fire as he bagged a goal and an assist
- However, the turning point of the game was a red card given to former Tottenam man Benoit Assou-Ekotto, which wrecked the Metz defence
Kylian Mbappe got off to a bright start at Paris Saint-Germain as he helped his team defeat 10-man Metz 5-1 on Friday September 8.
The French youngster scored a brilliant goal in the 59th minute to give PSG a 2-1 lead as he got an assist in a game his team could have scored more.
Edinson Cavani scored twice while Neymar and Lucas Moura also added goals as PSG maintained their 100% start in the French Ligue 1 after five games.
Although Mbappe grabbed a debut goal, Brazil captain Neymar was again the star of the match as he had a hand in four of PSG five goals on the night, with a goal and an assist to his name.
PSG got the first goal of the night after Neymar played in Cavani in the 31st minute for a simple finish. However, the hosts were able to equalize six minutes later through Emmanuel Riviere.
But the red card to former Tottenham star Benoit Assou-Ekotto for a late challenge on Mbappe in the 56th minute opened the floodgates for PSG. First, Mbappe delivered a long-range strike and just three minutes later, Neymar did the same in the 69th minute for PSG third goal of the night.
Mbappe then knocked the ball down for Cavani to tap in a fourth in the 75th minute before Lucas Moura bundled a fifth over the line late on.
PSG remain top of the league with an impressive 15 points from five games.
