- Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho walked out on reporters after being questioned on snubbing Mark Hughes
- Mourinho was shoved in the game by Hughes
- The draw at Stoke brought Manchester United's 100% percent start to season to an end.
Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho walked out on his post-match BBC interview after being asked why he snubbed Mark Hughes’ handshake.
After the 2-2 draw, the Manchester United boss quickly made his way towards the visitors dressing room ignoring the Stoke city manager.
When quizzed during the post-match interview by Match of the Day reporter Steve Wilson, the Manchester United boss took a long pause and a deep breath, then he responded: “I want to be polite with you and I prefer not to answer the question because your question is really a bad question.
"It is a bad question because it looks like it's my fault, it’s my problem and your question is not correct, I am sorry.
And, in a BT Sport interview, Mourinho added: "I don't speak about stupid things, I am too old for that.
"Stupid things are for stupid people."
According to a Manchester United source said: “Jose wanted to reorganise his defence after a foul and Hughes pushed him as he walked over and told Jose to, ‘F*** off’.
“He also asked the referee to send Jose to the stands. In the end Jose just walked away because he doesn’t shake hands after being insulted.”
Ex-Old Trafford striker Hughes admitted he might have sparked their row by shoving the former Chelsea boss out of his technical area.
Sparky also thought it could have been sour grapes after United finally dropped some points after a perfect start to the Premier League campaign.
Stoke boss Hughes said: "I pushed him because he was in my technical area.
"Maybe that's why he didn't want to shake my hand.
“Maybe it's because it has to be viewed as a negative result for him, coming to Stokewhen everybody expected them to beat us.
"It's a negative. Sometimes managers of top-six clubs don't take negative results too kindly.
“Sometimes, because they're not used to having to take negative results, sometimes they react in the wrong way.
"Maybe he reacted in the wrong way.
"In fairness, I've got history with non-handshakes so maybe it's me! Who knows?"
The draw at the bet365 stadium brought an end to Reds 100% start to the 2017/2018 English premier league season.
Manchester United next game is a champions league home match against Basel on September 12.
