Pope John's SHS bans use of chop boxes

- Pope John Senior School (POJOSS) has banned the use of chop boxes by first year students

School authorities at the Pope John Senior High School (POJOSS) say they will not be rejecting first year students who come over to the boarding house with chop boxes.

According to school, only metallic boxes (trunks) will be accepted for the storage of food and cloths by first year students.

The school authorities explained that the decision is part of efforts to control bedbug infestation in the School.

YEN.com.gh is also gathering that all fresh boarding students are expected to buy two cans of insecticide spray while each day-student is expected to provide a can of insecticide spray for the control of bedbugs.

Meanwhile, over 400,000 BECE candidates are expected to benefit from government’s flagship free SHS policy.

This policy, which takes off today, September 11 is expected to be officially launched by president of the republic – Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

This policy, which has been the mantra for Nana Addo for over 8 years now will see all schools suspend the charging of fees to students as government will now be paying everything related to making tuition in the SHS.

There have been concerns over how Nana Addo wishes to fund the free SHS as government has assured that it will be funded mainly through the gains from the oil sector.
