- Akua Donkor says President Akufo-Addo and NPP stole her intellectual property
- She says the only way the policy will work is to consult her on proper implementation
The founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor is prophesying doom ahead of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP administration flagship, Free Senior High School education programme.
According to Akua Donkor, President Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) stole her party’s intellectual property, therefore lacks the ability to implement the sustainability of the programme
She says the only way the NPP government can successfully implementing the policy is to consult her for the necessary guidance since she owns intellectual property to the Free SHS policy.
Speaking on Neat FM on Tuesday, the failed presidential candidate hopeful insisted that the Electoral Commission disqualified her in the 2016 race to pave way for the NPP to ‘steal’ her Free SHS idea.
“Nana Addo and his cohorts stole the free SHS policy from me in the 2016 elections and now he is implementing it. I can state authoritatively that this policy will not see the day of light. It will not work because it was stolen from me” Akua Donkor said.
Madam Akua Donkor’s comment comes on the back after the successful launch of Free SHS policy in Accra by President Akufo-Addo few days ago.
Over 400,000 Ghanaian parents have been relieved of their burden of funding the education of their wards as government rolls out the policy this academic year for all students who have successfully passed for SHS.
But Madam Akua Donkor who has joined skeptics and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is advocating for the collapse of the policy.
The GFP founder argues that the NPP government has refused to make a full disclosure of the amount the policy may cost.
The only way the policy will sustainably stand test of time Akua Donkor says, is for NPP government to include her in the implementation process.
“Nana Addo should make Kindergarten and primary free first and then focus on SHS because I will make sure I make education free for all pupils because I am sure of becoming President in 2020”, she said.
