YEN.com.gh is gathering that about 400 first year students at the Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School in the Eastern region have been turned away following the non-availability of space.
Checks by StarrFMonline indicate that the school, which only takes 400 student each year had over 800 posted by the computer school selection placement system.
Speaking to the media over this issue, headmistress of the school, Silvia Isabela Laryea said the school has limited dormitories to admit the students.
According to her, a dormitory that was started last year was abandoned at the foundation level and it is yet to be completed by the contractor.
The challenge of vacancy currently remains the most pressing headache for most SHS institutions in the country with the minority NDC expressing pessimism over the effectiveness of the entire free SHS policy.
Meanwhile, president of the republic, Nana Addo is assuring Ghanaians of a successful policy despite the current challenges being faced. According to him, government will be doing everything possible to tackle all shortfalls regarding the policy.
